Comprehensive UFL Betting Guide

The XFL was relaunched in 2020, offering football fans and bettors a fresh opportunity to stay engaged during the NFL and NCAA offseason. Originally founded by Vince McMahon’s Alpha Entertainment, the league is now owned by Redbird Capital Partners and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and has been rebranded as the United Football League (UFL).

The UFL currently features eight teams, all based in the Eastern United States, with no divisional structure. Expansion plans are underway, with the league aiming to grow to 12 teams by 2028—potentially opening up new betting markets and matchups.

As the league evolves, we’ll continue to provide up-to-date coverage of the UFL spring football season, including expert betting insights, odds breakdowns, and strategic advice to help you make informed wagers throughout the competition.

UFL Rules: The Difference Between UFL and NFL Football

Season Timing

  • UFL: Operates in the spring and early summer, filling the gap after the NFL season ends.
  • NFL: Runs from September to February, culminating in the Super Bowl.

Rule Innovations

  • Overtime Format:
    • UFL uses a shootout-style overtime, where each team gets three 2-point conversion attempts from the 5-yard line. If still tied, it goes to sudden death.
    • NFL uses a timed overtime period, with possession rules and potential for a tie in regular season.
  • Extra Point Attempts:
    • UFL eliminates kicking for extra points. Teams choose between:
      • 1-point try from the 2-yard line
      • 2-point try from the 5-yard line
      • 3-point try from the 10-yard line
    • NFL uses a kick from the 15-yard line or a 2-point try from the 2-yard line.
  • Kickoffs:
    • UFL kickoffs start at the 20-yard line, promoting more returns.
    • NFL kickoffs begin at the 35-yard line, with stricter rules to reduce injuries.
  • Onside Kick Alternative:
    • UFL allows teams to attempt a 4th-and-12 play from their own 28-yard line instead of a traditional onside kick.
    • NFL sticks with the standard onside kick format.
  • Double Forward Pass:
    • UFL permits two forward passes on a single play if the first is completed behind the line of scrimmage.
    • NFL allows only one forward pass per play.

Roster Size

  • UFL: Teams have a 42-player roster, emphasizing versatility.
  • NFL: Teams carry up to 53 players, allowing for more specialization.

Broadcast and Exposure

  • UFL games are broadcast on major networks and serve as a scouting platform for players aiming to reach the NFL.
